Indiana Council For Social Studies Conference
During my time at Indiana University, I had the opportunity to create and present to a panel of social studies educators a blueprint based inquiry design model social studies unit. At the conference, I shared the work I had done on creating an inquiry design model based project for students. Over the course of 16 weeks, I worked on creating a hands-on, source based unit for students that provided students with a deep engagement with primary sources, driven by a compelling question. The purpose of the Inquiry Design Model is to have students engage with answering a social studies compelling question through a deep authentic examination of sources. The question I posed for my students asks, "Is it possible for a nation to be free and equal at the same time?" Click on the link to view the project.
